Leslie Bibb did it. She put in the work, honed her craft, powered through the lows, and now tackles one film or television project after the next. Is it smooth sailing? Not always, but thanks to a journey that included a whole lot of determination and excellent mentorship, Bibb now gets opportunities like God’s Favorite Idiot, a new Netflix series that lets her swing for the fences playing Satan.
The show is created by Ben Falcone who also stars in it as Clark. One day, Clark is struck by lightning and the next, he glows. Turns out, that lightning strike wasn’t a random occurrence. It happens because Clark’s been chosen by God to help spread peace in an effort to ward off an impending apocalypse. Someone he’ll have to go up against in that pursuit? Bibb as Satan.
With God’s Favorite Idiot now available to stream on Netflix, Bibb joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit some of her journey from hitting it big with Popular to scoring a dream opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Inhabitant is a new horror thriller by emerging genre director Jerren Lauder. Odessa A’zion plays Tara, a teenage descendant of Lizzie Borden who is caught between paranoid visions and festering schizophrenia amid a series of small-town murders. Leslie Bibb and Dermot Mulroney co-star. Produced by Steelyard Pictures’ Leone Marucci and RU Robot’s Petr Jakl, The Inhabitant releases in the fall of 2022. Executive Producers include Ara Keshishian, Martin J. Barab, and Scott Macfarland. The trailer features vocals by social media star Rebecca Parham.
Leslie Bibb has been tapped to star alongside Kristen Wiig in in Apple TV+ comedy series Mrs. American Pie, executive produced by Laura Dern. Based on Juliet McDaniel’s book, Mrs. American Pie hails from creator Abe Sylvia (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and director Tate Taylor (Breaking News in Yuba County). Oscar winner Allison Janney also recently signed on to star in the series, in which Dern is poised for a key role.
Written by Sylvia and directed by Taylor, Mrs. American Pie is a story about gorgeously impossible people. Set during the powderkeg era of the early 1970s, it follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) and her attempt to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have nots, the series asks the same questions that baffle us today: Who gets a seat at the table, how do you get a seat at the table, and what will you sacrifice to get there?
Bibb will play Dinah, a lovely, but vulnerable member of the high society.
The series was developed by Dern and her producing partner Jayme Lemons via their Jaywalker Pictures banner. Sylvia is writing, exec producing and showruning the series. Taylor will direct and also will exec produce alongside his producing partner John Norris via their Wyolah Entertainment banner. Katie O’Connell Marsh executive produces for Boat Rocker. Apple Studios produces.
Bibb can next be seen starring in God’s Favorite Idiot opposite Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone as well as the Lionsgate film About My Father opposite Robert DeNiro and Sebastian Maniscalco. She’s repped by ICM Partners and John Carrabino Management.

Clark Thompson (Ben Falcone) is a mid-level tech support employee, who takes saunas with his dad, Gene (Kevin Dunn), pines after his co-worker Amily (Melissa McCarthy), and loves his cats. When he starts to glow, he begins to realize this isn’t an average day at the office and God has bigger plans for him. Clark can’t save mankind by himself, he must gather his flock of mismatched co-workers, his longtime crush Amily and angelic allies to outwit Satan herself (Leslie Bibb). Together, they’re just a bunch of average humans coming together for the greater good because, after all, you can’t save the world alone.
